Author's Note: I wrote Magdalene Origins as part of my path toward the intersection of Judaism, Akkadian and Sumerian practice. While my thinking has evolved much since this writing -- the book is still frequently requested. As such, I have chosen to make it available for those who are interested in or called to the Magdalene path. If that's you... read on!

Trace Maryam Magdalene’s Forgotten Spiritual Roots in the Mysticism of the Hebrew Temple

Who came before Maryam Magdalene?

This question dropped into my spirit one day before a sacred ceremony, and it would not go away. Was Maryam Magdalene a one-of-a-kind individual? Or was she the most famous among a distinctive class of devotional women, known in her own time but forgotten now?

At the time, I had no idea that it would slowly take over my spiritual journey — and completely transform the way I understand GOD, Sacred Union and my way of living the Magdalene path.

In the last twenty years ...

... global interest in Maryam (Mary) Magdalene has exploded, inspiring a plethora of interpretations of her first-century CE life and work.

Priestess groups and teachings now abound in her name, exploring Magdalene as an Egyptian priestess, sex worker, goddess vibration, and more.

Yet despite the cultural obsession, few seem interested in tracing Magdalene's most organic possible lineage: that of the Hebrew
qadisha or holy woman devoted to the an ancient pre-Judaic mystical path inside Solomon's Temple.

Often associated with 'sacred sexuality', the qadisha has long been assumed to refer to a cult prostitute: a so-called 'abomination' of the worship of Yahweh, based on the teachings of the Jewish Scriptures.

But what if this is not the original story? And what if, in casting Magdalene as a sacred prostitute, or even as a goddess, we miss the true wisdom and wonder of her walk with GOD?

What if there is a beautiful path of creation and Sacred Union that is still waiting to be remembered?

In Magdalene Origins . . .

Lisa Moriah shares her Magdalene discoveries from five years of research and prayer. These insights are designed for readers from all Abrahamic religions who seek the Divine Feminine.

The book presents a distinctly Hebraic (pre-Jewish) vision of Magdalene's origins, including the story of the solar feminine Mother of the first temple, a fresh approach to so-called 'gnostic' Christianity, and insight from obscure texts.

This book is for every woman who knows she is a Magdalene. or thinks she might be, yet does not feel at home in the New Age community or ‘Path of the Rose’. It is also for those with a passion for Middle Eastern spirituality. And those who are curious about the often-sensationalized title of 'qadisha'.

To be a HOLY woman, Lisa Maria shares, is first to become a WHOLE one. And that, MAGDALENE ORIGINS shares, is perhaps the most sacred message (and medicine) that Maryam Magdalene offers us . . . a path to recognizing the wholeness within, inside our relationship with GOD.

This book is for you if you:

  • Feel called to the Magdalene path but don’t feel aligned with the New Age goddess narrative or the Path of the Rose often taught online.

  • Have previously had visions of the first Hebrew temple or feel drawn to it, even if you are not culturally or religiously of Jewish background.

  • Grew up in a strict Abrahamic religious background (Jewish, Christian or Muslim) and have had to heal spiritual / religious trauma as a result.

  • You are seeking to practice an esoteric or mystical form of the Christ path, but don’t identify with the practices of Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant Christianity.

  • Know about past lives as an Essene, Gnostic Christian, devotee of the Virgin, martyr, saint, nun / monk, or other individual connected into the mystical Hebrew tradition and its later Christian off-shoot.

  • Have felt that something about the traditional presentation of the Old or New Testament narrative was ‘inorganic' and is not the full story.

  • Desire to reclaim your relationship with the Eternal Feminine and/or Eternal Masculine, outside of traditional Abrahamic religious teachings.

  • Are on the path of Divine UNION and are wondering how to reconnect with the Holy Mother after hearing ‘Father-Only’ union teachings.

Magdalene Origins explores fascinating questions like . . .

  • Who was the Holy Mother in the Hebrew Temple — and how did Yeshua honor Her in His life teachings and work?

  • How can we understand Maryam Magdalene as an expression of the Eternal Feminine, even if we don’t connect with her as goddess

  • Why have so many traditions lost or obscured the role of Magdalene and the original tradition surrounding a divine figure called ‘The Virgin’?

  • Who were the qadishim — holy women — of the Hebrew Temple, really, and how does Maryam Magdalene embody this lineage?

  • Is the popular modern ‘sacred sexuality’ or ‘sacred prostitute’ storyline about Magdalene actually liberating for women

  • What eternal truths does this ancient lineage hold, about Sacred Union, the nature of Wisdom and our relationship with GOD?

  • How can we as modern women tap into this ancient way and reclaim a feminine form of Christ-following anchored in wholeness?

"In a world seeking the Eternal Feminine in Sacred Union, but not quite knowing Her nature, Lisa has peeled back the veil to reveal a glimpse of Her glory. [She] masterfully blends historical references with feminine wisdom."
